Manchester — Ah… the sweet taste of success.
Burr & Burton Academy’s Student Success Program and Willoughby’s Depot Eatery will be opening a Success Cafe at the Manchester Community Library every Friday from 1-4pm starting this week.
BBA students interested in the culinary arts and entrepreneurship will sell food and drink from the library cafe on Friday afternoons under the guidance of Courtney Caro of Willowbies. All proceeds support student work in the Success Program.
Founded in 2013 by BBA Jason Pergament, the Student Success Program is built and designed to help Success Scholars grow into successful young people through their high school experience.
“Success Cafe has a lot of potential for students in our community,” Pergament said in the release. art and entrepreneurship. Sophomores starting a café will learn how to create and execute a business plan by working with local business owners. Students are funded and paid for their time by the Stratton Foundation, but more importantly, they build their vision for the future and the confidence to work hard to achieve their long-term goals. ”
Callo said she and Willoughby’s Depot Eatery are thrilled to be working together on the project.
“This is a great opportunity for BBA Success students to learn what it takes to run a small business and the benefits of community initiatives,” she said.
“From the moment we stepped into MCL and saw the cafe space, we knew the potential for hands-on learning experiences for students in our community. I hope that the whole will support these children.”
