A mixed-breed dog named Kate is the inspiration for the name of Good Girl Brewing Company, which Andrew and Rachel Pfeiffer plan to open on Banks Mill Road in Aiken later this year.
“She was our first dog. She’s the good old one,” Andrew said of the once-unwanted dog he and his wife Rachel adopted in 2013.
Kate is believed to be around 14 years old and is “pretty healthy,” continued Andrew. “She’s still fine and loves to run around.”
Kate’s likeness is used in the Good Girl Brewing logo.
The new business is family-friendly and pet-friendly, so customers will get the chance to meet Kate, Nemo, another of the Pfeiffers’ canine companions, and the couple’s son James, who recently celebrated his third birthday.
“The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Services does not allow pets (other than service animals) on food service establishments,” Andrew said, but “offside our property. I’d like to get a pet, so please bring me a puppy.”
The Good Girl Brewing site is the former home of Found Treasures, an antiques and collectibles store that closed in 2020.
Panda Kitchen Wings & Philly offers an extensive and varied menu.
One side of the 1.26 acre parcel is adjacent to a public park. In that area, Pfeiffers will place picnic tables and Adirondack chairs.
There are also various games such as bocce, cornhole and horseshoes for adults, teenagers and children to enjoy while the dogs play nearby.
“The atmosphere will be really relaxed,” said Andrew.
Refurbishment of the 4,050-square-foot former Found Treasures Building is underway.
“We are in the demolition phase now,” said Andrew. “We’re pulling out architectural features that we didn’t maintain – the suspended ceilings and the partitions between rooms.”
Good Girl Brewing offers craft beers made on the premises.
“You walk in the front door and what you see is a large bar about 40 feet long,” said Andrew. “And just behind that is a wall full of taps.”
“There are open seats,” he continued, between the front door and the bar. “We have high-tops, low-tops, banquettes and more to meet everyone’s comfort needs.”
The brewing facility is to the left of Good Girl Brewing’s bar.
“We’re going to make all kinds of beer,” said Andrew. “About half of the taps are for regular fan favorites and the other half are for something new.”

Andrew is a trained civil engineer who worked at the Savannah River Site, a self-taught homebrewer, and a brewery employee.
“Some of the recipes I worked on were very well received by the community,” said Andrew. What I’m really excited to put in front of people is my Gazée recipe — a tart, European-style wheat beer finished with orange peel, coriander and sea salt.”
To the right of Good Girl Brewing’s bar is the kitchen area.
Rachel, Aiken County’s assistant finance officer, said the food served was “literally mommy’s because my mom, Margaret Warren, runs the kitchen.” She “will have hot dogs and sliders, fries and nachos. She will also be making some of her charcuterie boards and is very good at desserts.”
The menu also includes “pretzels with beer cheese and light options, protein-laden salads.”
In addition to Pfeiffers, members of the Good Girl Brewing ownership team are their friends Paul and Morgan Button, and Rachel’s parents.

Mr Andrew said:
“Once the construction and remodeling is complete, we will install all the brewing equipment,” he added. “Then we make adjustments to our equipment and start brewing our first inventory.”
Pfeiffer Brewing LLC purchased the former Aiken Treasures site for $259,000 in 2021, according to Aiken County land records.
Rachael is a registered agent for Phifer Brewing.
“We love making beer, drinking beer, and sharing beer with others,” said Andrew. “Beer-making is a fusion of science and craft. By trying to perfect the process from the scientific side, you create something that is pleasing to the senses.”
Rachael added: It’s really nice to have everyone together in a shared space. ”
