To the editor:
The annual Dow High Music Boosters Fruit Sale was a huge success. The community once again supported the award-winning music program by ordering delicious oranges and grapefruits for Dow High School band, orchestra and choir students.Sincere thanks to our loyal customers
We support repeat customers and welcome new customers!
Thanks to Kurt and his team at Jack’s Fruit and Meat Market, our local distributor, and Pumford Construction for providing the boom lifts and operators to expedite the delivery process. We also thank Garber Chevrolet and Midland Public Schools for their advertising assistance. A full list of sponsors can be found at dowhighmusic.org/sponsors.
Fruit Sales is an incredible team between the Fruit Sales Committee, students, parent volunteers, and dedicated music directors Katie Dries, Steve Dries, Amanda Thoms, and Adam Gardner Northrup. It takes work. As always, we thank the many students and parents who generously donated their time and effort to make the sale a success. Hundreds of hours recorded by students and adult volunteers, with a music student participation rate above his 75%, was truly a community effort. I would also like to thank my co-chairs, her Jen Pisarczyk and Cindy Cummings.
This year, we sold 1,642 cases of fruit and raised over $13,000. Estimated profits of over $39,000 to support music programs and enhance the education of music students. With over 60,000 fruits inspected, sorted and sold, we are very pleased with our success and look forward to serving our community next year!
The Fruit Sale is the largest fundraiser for our music program. We also have fundraisers at Marching Band Showcases, Ren Fairs and Jazz. For more information on these events, please visit the website dowhighmusic.org.
