Cathedral City, California – The Bears’ two-run third frame proved enough as Texas Tech lost 3-0 to Cal at Sunday’s Mary Nutter Classic Finale at Big League Dreams.
The Red Raiders (12-5) finished the weekend 3-3 with wins over Cal Poly, UC San Diego and Bethune Cookman.
Tech gave up two runs in the third and one in the fifth after holding Cal (14-2) scoreless in the first two frames.

Dasha Saiki led the third frame with a solo shot to plate the first run of the contest. After being hit by a pitch, Micah Lee responded with a double to center field, giving Cal the two runs he needed.
Reigns entered the circle and Fritz followed up on a double and scored a third out to send Tech’s attack back to the plate. Dee McClarity Leading with a single but left stuck.
In the bottom of the 5th inning, he put the leadoff runner on a walk. However, Red his raiders quickly cleared his pass to the bases, making it a 1-4-3 double his play. With two outs, a Tech fielding error and a single from Makena Smith put down a pair of runners. A well-executed double steal plated Cal’s third and final run.
