In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter in which the actor reflected on his prolific career and talked about the upcoming TV series Tulsa King, Sylvester Stallone said action movies are saturated with heavy CGI and superheroes. I was asked if I was unhappy with movie.
“Yes, it is [frustrating]’ replied Stallone.[Great action movies are] It’s like buying a vintage watch. Originally $35, now he’s $35,000. why? Because it’s handmade. It wasn’t the best. It wasn’t supernatural. It was something a unique human could accomplish.” And the lack of CGI.
While there’s no doubt that some of Stallone’s later work included a myriad of CGI effects (including the aforementioned “The Expendables” franchise), the iconic action star is still deep into classic action movies. It’s clear that you are respectful. Indeed, he seems to prefer down-to-earth action like “First Blood” as opposed to the colorful CGI blockbusters of today. As you can see, it’s easy to see why.
