Many of our troubles are self-inflicted because of an empty and restless mind. When we are not doing something constructive, our minds often wander toward dark and undesirable areas. Another obstacle to a peaceful life is our tongue, which many of us use without thinking. It often leads us into trouble. As the saying goes, you must think before you speak. Speak when it’s necessary, speak when there’s something worthwhile, something that adds value to the conversation. Use your words wisely. Don’t speak just to hurt or contradict others. Listening more and speaking less is always a good quality. You can control your tongue only when you can control your emotions. Emotions produce anger, temper, joy and all other emotions. Keeping your emotions in check is always beneficial in many cases. To climb the ladder of success, first stop looking at the downsides of others. Every individual and situation has something positive to offer. Soak up the good from them. Even bad people teach us important life lessons. Meditation helps calm the mind and make it peaceful. It helps channel emotions in a constructive way. You know when to exercise self-control. It ensures balance. Meditation is not just a physical process. The essence of meditation is to meditate the mind. Some techniques for meditating the mind are:
- If you want to destroy something, destroy your evil thoughts and malice.
- If you want to win, overcome your anger and negative thoughts.
- If you want to give something, give knowledge. Give, do not boast.
- If you want to receive something from others, get blessings, especially from teachers and parents.
- If you want to help someone, help someone in need.
- If you want to leave something behind, give up your ego.
- If you want to speak, speak the truth.
