    SCORE Holds Seminar for Startups on Tuesday

    The Baton Rouge area SCORE will host a virtual seminar on basic finance for start-ups on Tuesday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

    The event will cover topics such as critical record keeping, income and expense forecasting, cash flow analysis, and federal tax issues.

    Louisiana Becomes Top Sugar Producing State, Awarded by American Sugar Cane League

    Louisiana’s sugar cane industry will produce more than 2 million tons of raw sugar for the first time in 2022, making it the largest sugar producer in the United States today.

    Jim Simon, director of the American Sugarcane League, said more than 17.1 million tons of sugar cane were crushed at factories in Louisiana, producing 2.05 million tons of raw sugar. Three of them grind more than 2 million tons of sugar cane each.

    Sugar cane acreage has increased steadily over the past decade. Last year he had 480,000 acres of sugar cane planted, and since 2015 he has increased by 102,000 acres.

    The American Sugarcane League also appointed new officers and directors. Brian Simon elected president of Abbeville, David Thibodeau Selected as Vice President of Jeanerette.
