MARLBORO, MA — The Marlborough City Council has muzzled a proposed dog grooming business.
The council voted unanimously Monday night to deny special permission sought by All Fur Love owners Marquel Frink and Divino Oliveira. The pair wanted to open a new grooming business in an empty commercial space at 75 Lincoln Street in the middle of a residential neighborhood.

In December, Frink told a public hearing that the couple will purchase and upgrade the building, making nine spaces on the property available to customers. Business won’t be boarding dogs, Frink said.
But at a City Affairs Commission meeting last month, city councilors said they were concerned the business would increase traffic and dog-related noise in the neighborhood. The council had to grant special permission to the business because it was limited to
General Councilor Kathleen Robbie, who chairs the City Affairs Commission, said Marlborough is trying to welcome businesses, but sometimes the location isn’t deemed appropriate. I encouraged Love to find a new place in the city.
“Sometimes we find their location choices inappropriate,” Robey said Monday.
All Fur Love also has another location in Medway on Highway 109. The Lincoln Street building they sought to purchase was once home to the Skin & Bones Company, an antique restoration company.
