Editor’s Note: “The Spoken Word” is shared by Lloyd Newell on The Tabernacle Choir, which airs every Sunday on Temple Square. This will be distributed on Sunday, November 6, 2022.
The word “do your best” The word “try” has a slightly different meaning. Making an effort suggests intentional effort. On the other hand, if you try It implies something a little uncertain. Try something while you are still considering whether success is possible or desirable. If it doesn’t work, at least you’ve tried. But when you try, you keep going no matter what. We don’t just strive to overcome our weaknesses and change for the better. we strive
In our endeavors, we are blessed to have exemplary people around us, people whom we look up to and who are also striving and succeeding. You will notice how you are solving problems, facing difficulties, and getting through difficult times. You might admire their hard work and guts, generosity and honesty. Impressive mountains seem easier to climb when someone we trust goes just a few steps ahead of us and clears the way.
The mentors we emulate may be colleagues, friends, or family members. It may be an ancestor passed down from generation to generation. But if we can strive to be like others, if we can seek the embodiment of goodness and grace in everyone, then the best way is to emulate the Lord Jesus Christ. He set a perfect example to follow.
Striving to emulate perfection may seem unrealistic and silly, but it was Jesus Himself who invited us to follow Him. “I set an example for you,” he said. It’s a pursuit that takes a lifetime of effort, and perhaps even more. where do i start? The best approach might be to start with the attributes that Jesus said identify his followers. This allows all [people] If you love one another, know that you are my disciples” (John 13:34-35).
This is the way the Lord has opened for us. Whenever we show love and compassion and show a kind, forgiving and just heart, we are following the Lord. We are helping bring His light into our lives and the world. It is a goal worth striving for.
