Lawrence, Kang. The Kansas Rowing Team had a dominant performance at the Jayhawk Jamboree on Sunday, winning four races each in Clayton and Kansas State. The event was held at Bircham Park in Lawrence and raced on the Kansas River.
Each of the four races was 4km long and Kansas was at least in the top two in each of the four races.

In the first race of the day, KU had three of the top four finishes in the Collegiate Eight Novice 8, including a first place finish for the ‘A’ boat with a time of 14:42.67. That boat consisted of Coxswain Becca Maffei, Eileen Schaefer, Rory Brennan, Greta Valiukevisiute and Elana. Aaron, Alessandra Vedder, Jordan Zener, Glassine Raines, Emma Parsons. The Kansas ‘A’ boat finished over 30 seconds ahead of the Kansas ‘B’ in 15:17.24 where he was second, and the K State ‘A’ finished third in 15:21.50. I was. Rounding out the first race was Kansas ‘C’ in 16:02.66 and he Clayton ‘A’ in 17:17.16.
Jayhawks’ strong start continued in Collegiate Varsity 4 as KU had each of the first four fastest times and all five boats finished in the top seven. KU’s first of his four ships finished in under 16 minutes each, led by the ‘A’ boats of Audrey Owens, Alaina Ronning, Amber Keich, Rain Draper and Liz Webber, putting him 6 seconds ahead of the ‘B’ boats. It was 15:23.58. 15:29.45. The ‘C’ boat had a time of 15:41.01 and the ‘D’ boat he was 15:46.39.
Following a break in action, the team returned to the river and faced more windy conditions for the final two races of the day, starting with the College Novice 4. Coxwain’s Becca Maffei, Rory Brennan, Greta Valliukevisiute, Jordan Zenner and Eileen Schaefer in the ‘A’ boat finished in a time of 16:32.46. The Kansas ‘B’ boat had him in 16:47.48, which put him second, and the ‘C’ boat had him in 17:39.33, which put him fourth.
The day ended with Collegiate Varsity 8, once again the Jayhawks had the best result with 3 top 2 and 3 top 5 finishers. KU’s ‘A’ boat featuring Audrey Owens, Amber Casey, Alaina Ronning, Kai Alexander, Rain Draper, Grace Wallrup, Melia Martin, Shay Pemberton and Stella Warren at 14:15.87 and the ‘B’ boat won the race. With a time of 14:21:20, it was very close. Kansas ‘C’ was his fifth, finishing with a time of 14:46.07.
The Jayhawk Jamboree concludes Kansas Rowing’s fall 2022 racing schedule. The Jayhawks will return to competition in the spring and a full schedule will be announced soon.
