Innovative security initiatives, professional companies and cybersecurity professionals were honored last night at NZ’s Information Security Awards.
Awards were presented in six categories, plus a Hall of Fame award for one person’s enduring contribution to the awards program in its eighth year.

Best Security Project or Awareness Initiative – Education Arcade for its NFT scam simulator.
Education Arcade’s online interactive simulator is designed for those at risk of falling prey to irreplaceable token scams, teaching people how to spot and avoid fraudulent or malicious NFTs. The judges commented on its accessible, quirky, interesting and interactive nature. Also note that the return to the learner is immeasurable.
best security product or service – National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) for malware-free networks.
Launched last November, NCSC’s Malware Free Networks help defend against a wide range of evolving cyber threats and make the cybersecurity resilience of many New Zealand organizations. Judges commented on the strength of the initiative’s design and implementation, and its ability to improve security across the country while protecting user privacy.
best security team – Spark Cyber Defense Tribe.
With over 100 IT and cyber security professionals, the Cyber Defense Tribe protects Spark’s network infrastructure. Judges commented on the team’s commitment to measuring the program and its focus on diversity, training, and career development pathways.
Best Startup or New Business – Mind Shift.
Judges commented on Mindshift’s consistently high quality cybersecurity awareness campaigns and training, and various service providers who use their services to improve their cybersecurity skills found MindShift to understand their audiences. , said it showed confidence in making the right impact.
Best Senior Security Practitioner – Nyuk Loong Kiw – Chapter Area Leader of the Spark Cyber Defense Tribe.
The judges were impressed by Kiw’s passion for helping build a strong cybersecurity community. That was evidenced by his commitment to mentoring others and speaking at conferences beyond his day job. They also noted his leadership of his people and the excellent results he delivered to his clients.
Up-and-coming cybersecurity star – Amina Aggarwal of Spark.
The judges commented on Amina’s demonstrated drive to succeed, her passion for cyber, her dedication to self-development, and her genuine contribution to entering the cybersecurity industry and helping others through it. .
Hall of Fame Award – Andy Prow has been named a 2022 iSANZ Hall of Famer.
Founder of information security companies Aura Information Security (now part of Kordia) and RedShield, Prow has long been a strong supporter of the New Zealand information security community. He serves on the board of his NZ Internet Task Force and is well known as a cybersecurity thought leader. He is also active globally, he was a VC partner in Silicon Valley investing in NZ tech startups, and he was also an advisor to the lead of the UK’s largest cyber insurance broker.
