This weekend, Sue hosted the 33rd Annual Northern Ontario Country Music Awards, recognizing nine musicians from across the north for their talent and contributions.
It’s Northern Ontario’s biggest night of country music.
After a two-year hiatus due to COVID, the Northern Ontario Country Music Awards are back on stage tonight as travelers from across the state come to celebrate at the Quatro Hotel & Conference Center.
Seven country musicians from the North were inducted into the Great Northern Opry and two into the NOCMA Hall of Fame, each of whom sang at the awards ceremony.
Great Northern Opry Inductees:
Dan Champagne – Timmins District
Claude Rochereau – Timmins District
Lois Jones – Algoma district representing Blind River
Kevin Meisenheimer – North Bay area
Claude Requiet – North Bay District, home to Sturgeon Falls
Urban Mejaki – Manitoulin District
Laurie Lafantasy – Sudbury District
NOCMA Hall of Fame Inductees:
Ron Schreier – Algoma district, representing Sault Ste.Marie
Scott Infanty – Sudbury district representing Sault Ste. Marie and Britt, Ontario.
