Hosted by the Bundaberg and District Neighborhood Centers, this year’s Senior Citizens Lifestyle and Care Expo takes a new approach to encouraging participation by lifestyle organizations and young community members.
This annual event offers options for those aging in the Bundaberg area.
Corey McCall of the Neighborhood Center said this year’s expo will be specifically aimed at people over the age of 40.
“While seniors need to know about important services and options available, we recognize that reaching out to the middle-aged community is also important,” he said.
“This is especially important for those who are caring for aging parents, or who are simply looking for a career change or alternative lifestyle.”
Corey said the Senior Citizens Lifestyle and Care Expo will be held in June at the Bundaberg Recreation District and will focus on providing information to support healthy lifestyles.
“Elderly care, NDIS and a healthy lifestyle in general are more important than ever among older people,” he said.
“We feel it is essential to give people the information and options to make more informed decisions.
“Through our Neighborhood Centers, we constantly see people asking about access to My Aged Care and NDIS.
“There seems to be a growing demand in the community.”
Corey said organizations that can provide advice to caregivers and older adults are encouraged to register their interest.
“We would love to have NDIS and My Aged Care divisions and lifestyle business stallholders such as caravans, boats, leisure and resort living for over 50s,” he said.
“Other stall owners will be tailored to employment channels and general services aimed at older demographics.
“Services are available to provide advice on a wide range of topics, including senior care packages and plans, wills and powers of attorney, retirement options, and employment pathways for those who want to continue working or change careers. .
“The public can attend this free event to learn more about their options and see a wide range of stalls catering to an aging population.”
Stall owners are encouraged to register their interest in the Elderly Lifestyle and Care Expo through the Bundaberg and District Neighborhood Centers.
