OCEAN SPRINGS, Mississippi (WLOX) – This weekend Ocean Springs is celebrating the 44th Annual Peter Anderson Art Festival.
The festival also serves as a time for artists from across the country to showcase their best to attendees and mingle with fellow artists.
“Always one of our favorite festivals,” said Cindy Williams. “There are a lot of potters. It’s really nice to see other people’s work. And when someone buys your pottery, it feels really good when they choose your pottery.” “
“A lot of my themes are inspired by the Gulf region because it’s still in the Gulf and I live in the Gulf,” Kathy Schumacher said.
“This show has to have over 30 potters on board and being part of that tradition and part of that lineage is really an honor to be able to continue it,” says Alex. Williams said.
Thousands of art lovers come together to show their love for art and artists.
“Last year we had at least 60,000 people visit our booth over the two days,” Williams said. “It was absolutely amazing…and Ocean Springs is amazing.
“The people here are so much fun,” said Schumacher. “They not only appreciate good art, but they also like to have a good time. So every time he comes to Springs, he feels this positive energy.”
Positive energy you can feel even in the rain.
“I didn’t choose to do it at this time of year, but if I’m going somewhere it’s a good place.”
