Mishawaka — The Art League, a subsidiary of the South Bend Museum of Art, will host its final monthly luncheon of the year on November 15th at 11:30 am at 426 Lincoln Way E, Riverside Terrace.
Sculptor Mitzi B. Sabato discusses the evolution of images and forms in ceramic works. These works are a response to the landscape of her front range in Montana where she stays more than her two months in her year.
Elements of cartography by glaze underlining permeate the surface of most of the wheel-cast forms. The shape of the first large vase is modified by hand, turning the handle into a mountain canyon wall and the top into a silhouette of a mountain range.
Sabato discusses the evolution of these forms, the new directions they are taking, and the thoughts and images that feed her muse.
Educated at the Art Institute of Chicago and Washington University in St. Louis, Sabato has devoted much of his time to the SBMA collection for over 37 years.
It costs $30 and must be booked by November 8th.
