Lancaster, Calif. (AP) — Singer-rapper Aaron Carter, who had hit albums in his childhood and teenage years, was found dead in his Southern California home on Saturday. he was 34 years old.
A representative for the Carter family confirmed the singer’s death.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Alejandra Parra said her deputy responded to reports of a medical emergency at her home in the high desert city of Lancaster around 11 a.m. Saturday.

Two law enforcement officers, who requested anonymity, told the Los Angeles Times that Carter was found dead in the bathtub at his home.
Aaron Carter rose to fame at the age of nine, opening the Backstreet Boys Tour and releasing his self-titled debut album, which went gold in 1997. He produced hit singles such as the title track and “I Want Candy.” His videos aired regularly on Disney and Nickelodeon.

Carter’s fifth and final studio album, LØVË, was released in 2018.
Over the past decade, he’s been in the celebrity news for a string of issues involving the economy, health, drug use, and tumultuous relationships.In 2013, he filed for bankruptcy and owes $1.3 million in unpaid taxes. In 2019, he publicly spoke about his gaunt and unhealthy appearance, standing six feet tall and reportedly weighing 115 pounds.
He and Melanie Martin had a son, Prince, who turned 1 on November 22nd. After the birth of their baby boy, the couple announced they had broken up multiple times, but in a statement to the press on Saturday, Martin revealed that he is Carter’s fiancée.
